Types of Abstracts Accepted
Only original research abstracts and case reports/case studies will be accepted.
Abstracts must not have been previously published or presented at a major national or international conference.
During online submission, authors must select one of the following topic categories:
- Pulmonary Medicine
- Case Report
Please ensure your submission fits one of these categories, as they will be used for review, evaluation, and scheduling.
Important Information for Authors
- Submission Fee: Free of charge.
- Attendance Requirement:
- Presenting authors must register and attend the conference in person.
- Virtual presentations are not available.
- Registration fees, travel, and accommodation are not provided.
- Presentation Format:
- All accepted abstracts will be presented orally using a PowerPoint presentation format.
- Submission Limits:
- Authors may submit multiple abstracts.
- Each presenting author may present up to three (3) abstracts.
Scientific Abstract Requirements
All scientific abstracts must include the following sections:
- A clear and descriptive title
- Full list of authors and institutions (do not use abbreviations)
- Introduction, rationale, or study objective
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusions
Abstracts that do not meet these minimum requirements will not be accepted.
Case Report Requirements
Interesting and unique case reports are encouraged. Submissions may describe a single case or a case series.
Each case report abstract must include:
- A clear and descriptive title
- Full list of authors and institutions (do not use abbreviations)
- Introduction
- Case description
- Discussion highlighting the importance of the case
Case reports that do not meet these minimum requirements will not be accepted.
Abstract Length and Language
- The abstract must be a minimum of 350 words and must not exceed 400 words.
- Title, author names, and affiliations are not included in the word count.
- Abstracts must be submitted and presented in English.
Research Funding Disclosure
All abstracts must clearly state funding information:
- Include the funding source (e.g., pharmaceutical company, grant name, or institution).
- If there is no funding, please state “None.”
- Abstracts funded by the tobacco industry will be rejected.
Abstract Review and Selection Process
- Abstracts will be reviewed after the submission deadline.
- The Scientific Committee will evaluate submissions based on predefined criteria.
- Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by email 10–14 days after the deadline.
- One abstract will be nominated by the committee.
- Two abstracts will receive the Outstanding STS 2026 Abstract Award.
- Award recipients will be notified by email.
- If confirmation is not received within 48 hours, the award will be offered to the next ranked abstract.
Author Responsibilities
- The person submitting the abstract will be listed as the Presenting Author and will appear first.
- The Presenting Author is responsible for:
- Accuracy of the abstract content
- Ensuring all co-authors approve the submission
- Confirming all co-authors are aware of the submission
- The presentation must not be used for product or equipment promotion.
Certificate of Presentation
- At the end of the conference, a Certificate of Presentation will be provided to the presenting author.
- Only one certificate will be issued per abstract.
- Certificates will be awarded only to authors who actually present their work during the conference.
- It is the sole responsibility of the presenting author to collect the certificate from the registration area on Saturday, 7 November, at 12:30 PM.
- After the conclusion of the conference, STS will not mail or reissue presentation certificates.
- It is the sole responsibility of the submitting author to ensure that all author names and affiliations are spelled correctly at the time of submission.
- Once the certificates are printed, no corrections or amendments can be made to incorrect information provided by the presenting author.
Oral Presentation Guidelines
- All accepted abstracts will be presented orally using a PowerPoint presentation format.

- Total presentation time: 10 minutes
Suggested PowerPoint Presentation Structure
- Introduction (1 minute)
- Introduce yourself and your institution
- State the study objective
- Brief background
- Methods (1 minute)
- Describe the study design or approach
- Highlight key methods
- Results (3 minutes)
- Present main findings
- Use clear visuals (charts, tables, images)
- Include key data where appropriate
- Discussion (3 minutes)
- Explain the significance of the results
- Discuss clinical or scientific implications
- Mention limitations if relevant
- Conclusion (1 minute)
- Summarize key takeaways
- Highlight future directions or impact
- Questions and Discussion (remaining time)
- Respond clearly and concisely
- Invite further discussion during the conference if needed
